The Muscat (moscatel or muscatel) grapes are used to make a variety of sweet dessert wines normally these are fortified wines, though some sweet late harvest and noble rot wines are also made from Muscat grapes. Their color ranges from white to near black. Muscat almost always has a pronounced sweet floral aroma.
The main regions in spain that provide muscatel wines are Andalusia, the Valencian Community, Aragón Navarre, and Catalonia, and the Canary Islands. In Malaga and jerez are the principal regions that produced sweet fortified Moscatels and using the solera system.
