Tempranillo
Tempranillo grapes are used to extract full-bodied Red Wine and these are well known Blackish grapes. Tempranillo grapes are referred as Spain’s Noble Grapes. Wine made from these grapes are often mixed together with herb, tobacco, flavors of berries and Aromas, which makes them ruby red in color. To produce more acidity and sugar content, blend it with Gamacha, Mazuela, Marlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Graciano. It also constitutes 85 to 98% of Ribera Del Duero wine, which makes it major component of typical Rioja blends.
Syrah
Shiraz or Syrah are world renowned Red wine Grapes. Key characteristics such as deep blackish-purple color, longevity & minerality, makes Syrah as a varietal as well as blended in nature. In 2006, Syrah along with merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon take a largest part of production and it’s estimated that around 142,600 hectares are devoted to this grape alone.
Most amazing thing about Syrah is that it produces different taste on different geographical locations. In Spain, it’s powerfully flavored and full-bodied and can be found in Sierras de Málaga, Penedès, Priorat, Ribera del Duero, Rioja.
Merlot
Like Syrah and Tempranillo, Merlot is also a Red wine grape. Wines made from Merlot usually have medium body and if climate is cool than it tastes like Strawberry, red berry, plum, cedar and tobacco. In Medium climate it taste changes to Blackberry, black plum and black cherry. Even if you have hot climate, then you got the Fruitcake and chocolate taste If you want to get high tannin, you should blend Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Sterner.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Is a red wine grape and can be easily blend with Shiraz, Tempranillo and Sangiovese. In Spain, Marques de Riscal for the first use this grape in Spanish Wine and now it’s sixth most planted grape in Spain. Almost all Spanish wine regions are getting the essence of Cabernet Sauvignon except Denominación de Origen. This Red wine Spanish grape is well known for Catalan wine region of Penedès and it’s often blend with Tempranillo which is also referred as Spain’s Noble Grapes. But in Navarra it is used as varietal wine which is unique in itself.
Cariñena
It’s the product of oldest protected growing area in northern Spain. Cariñena is a red wine grape and it is the major producer of rose wine and young wines. To maximize the taste drink it within one year of production.
